Georgia McLellan

Georgia McLellan (Whakatōhea & Ngāi Te Rangi) is a PhD candidate in the School of Environment at the University of Auckland and a Research Officer at SHORE and Whariki Research Centre. Her thesis is centred around decolonising Māori economies through an in-depth kin study of Whakatōhea kuku (green-lipped mussel). Georgia's research interests include Indigenous economies, Indigenous food sovereignty, and alternative economic frameworks. At SHORE and Whariki, she works on critical alcohol studies projects, including a Marsden project examining alcohol marketing on social media and a HRC project investigating alcohol companies' use of the metaverse to recruit new young drinkers.
