Rebecca MacKenzie, PhD

Rebecca is a doctoral student undertaking her PhD with Whariki. Her research examines how Māori experience eating disorders and explores related issues such as body image, self-esteem, and relationship with food. This research aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of eating disorders in Aotearoa by framing Māori voice within wellbeing, colonisation, identity, and culture. Rebecca is a recipient of the Massey Vice-Chancellors Doctoral Scholarship and is supervised by Professor Helen Moewaka Barnes, Professor Tim McCreanor, and Dr Angela Moewaka Barnes.
