Vanessa Sloan Morgan, MES, PhD

Vanessa is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Geography Program and the Health Arts Research Centre at the University of Northern British Columbia, Canada. Of primarily Irish and Scottish ancestry, Vanessa grew up on unceded Coast Salish territories on Vancouver Island. Her research explores how dispossession operates interpersonally and through structures of power. A critical human geographer by training, Vanessa currently works with youth to explore environmentally, economically, and socially desirable futures in light of large-scale resource extraction in northern British Columbia, and in partnership with First Nations to investigate the contentious modern treaty negotiation and implementation process in Canada.
